前言

  《临床医护英语教程》是根据教育部的医学和护理专业学生相关课程要求,结合我国医护院校人才培养的具体目标而编写的医护专门用途英语教程,供高等院校、中等职业学校及相关医护从业人员使用。  本书共10个单元。每单元由两个模拟医护情景会话(Dialogues)、课文(Passage)、医护应用文写作(Applied Writing)及相关文化知识(Related Cultural Information)等四大部分组成。每个单元配有基于会话内容的口语练习、听力练习和角色扮演。为了使学生能够对相关疾病知识有所了解,每单元又设计了专门针对疾病介绍的听力训练,使学生在进行英语会话训练的同时,掌握相关疾病知识。同时,每个单元中,还有与医学护理知识相关的课文一篇,并配有阅读理解(Reading Comprehension)、词汇(Vocabulary)、翻译(Translation)等练习。练习的编写侧重学以致用的原则,注重学生英语综合能力的培养;加大主观题的比例,培养学生积极运用语言的能力,克服学习中的被动性。写作部分主要为医生、护士工作中常用的应用文(Apphed Writing)。为了开拓学生的视野,了解当前国内外最新的医疗护理信息,本教程在每一单元后介绍了与医护相关的文化背景知识。为了满足一些护理专业学生出国留学就业的需求,本书中又加入了一些有关CGFNS和ISPN的内容。  《临床医护英语教程》在选材上注重内容的趣味性、前瞻性、多样性和临床的实用性,同时也注意语言的规范和严谨。为了适应学生的学习,我们对部分原材料内容做了适当删改。  由于编者水平所限,本教程难免会有缺点和不足,欢迎读者给予指正。

内容概要

  Some clients come to a hospital just for diagnosis and/or therapy and then leave ( "outpatients" ) ; while others are admitted and stay overnight or for several weeks or months (" inpatients"). Hospitals are usually distinguished from other types of medical facilities by their ability to admit and care for inpatients.  The best-known type of hospital is the general hospital, which is typically the major health care facility in its region. It can deal with many kinds of disease and injury, and usually has an emergency department to deal with immediate threats to health. Larger cities may have many different hospitals of varying sizes and facilities. Some hospitals, especially in the United States, have their own ambulance service. Types of specialized hospitals include trauma centers, rehabilitation hospitals, children hospitals, and hospitals for dealing with specific medical needs such as psychiatric problems, maternity hospital, and so forth.  Some hospitals may be single entities, and the others are affiliated with universities for medical research and the training of medical personnel, which is called a teaching hospital. A teaching hospital has two functions: serving for the patients and teaching the medical students. It is often linked to a medical school. Worldwide, most hospitals are run on a nonprofit basis by governments or charities. Within the United States, most hospitals are nonprofit.  ……
