　　This book has the following characteristics：　　First，emphasizing on cxploration and innovation. There are fewbooks in China or worldwidc researching on sociological indigenizationsystematically . Indigenization of Chinese Sociology in the 20th Centurymay remedy thc defect to some extent.　　In world sociological changing history， sociological indigenizationtook place　in　the　spreading and　communicating process　acrosscountries， regional and culture. Sociological indigenization movementappeared in latc devcloping countries or areas from as early as 1920s to1930s. Up to now， though foreign sociologists have probed intosociological indigcnization， the study was not deep enough and lack ofsystem， and the achievements taking sociological indeginization asthcrc theme were rare. Chinese sociological circles has been focusingon sociological indigenization for 70 years， with some articles andimportant collections of essays published， which mainly concentratcdon the emphasis of the necessity and significance of sociologicalindigcnization and the tentative ideas of the outline pattern ofsociological indiginization. Under this academic background， this bookfocus on sociological indigenization systematically　researches themeanings， types， characteristics and relevant concepts of sociologicalindigenization （see Chapter 1）， investigates historic and presentsociological indigenization in terms of the world and China based onthe large amount of materials （see Chapter 2， 3，4）， and probes intostrategies for pushing sociological indigcnization in China （see Chaptcr5）. We can say this is a crcative and innovative rescarch work. We aredeeply aware of the dual characteristics that of this kind of work.
