内容概要

  《新世纪英语教程自学指导(专升本·第2册)》中每课均涉及同一个主题,口语活动、听力材料和两篇阅读材料各有侧重。围绕这些与学生生活和社会活动息息相关的热门话题,学生可以在教师的指导下充分发挥其学习的主动性,通过大量的语言活动,提高其语言应用能力。由于话题相同,词汇复现率高,有助于学生提高单词记忆效果。鉴于自学指导中已有详细的课文注释和译文并附有练习答案,因此教师不必再花太多的宝贵课堂教学时间讲解课文,而可以将更多的课堂时间用在提高学生的语言应用能力上,从而使学生真正成为课堂教学的主角。前五个部分大量的口语练习为教师开展有效的课堂口语活动提供了多方面的选择。当然,由于教学时数的限制,教师完全可以自主决定,有针对性地选择其中一部分作为课堂教学活动,而让学生在课外进行其他练习。

书摘    Ⅱ.Talking about Space    1.Yes.on the night ofthe Mid-Autumn Festival when 1 was five years old'my father  and 1 went out to enjoy looking at the bright moon.1 wondered what and who would be there and 1 asked my father some questions.From then on I read a lot books on space.    Our solar system consists of an average star we call the Sun,the planets Memu, Venus,Earth,Mars,Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus,Neptune,and Pluto.The Sun is the richest source of electromagnetic energy(mostly in the form of heat and light)in the solar svstem.The planets.most of the satellites of the planets and the asteroids revolve around the Sun in the salne direction,in nearly circular orbits.The whole solar system, together with the local stars visible on a clear nisht,orbits the centre of our home galaxy,a spiral disk of 200 billion stars we call the Milky Way.The Milky Way is a gravitationally bound collection ofroughly a hundred billion stars.Our Sun is one ofthese stars and is located roughly 24,000 light years(or 8000 parsecs)away from the center of the Milky Wav.    2.The British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking was born in 1942.He hasdevoted much of his life to probin g the space-time described by general relativity and the singularities where it breaks down.And he’S done most of this WOrk while COnfined to a wheelchair,brought on by the pmgressive neurological disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.Hawking is the Lueasian Professor of Matllematics at Cambridge,a post once held by Isaac Newton.    In the late 1960s,Hawking proved that if general relativity is true and theuniveme is expanding,a singularity must have occurred at the birth of the universe.In 1974 he fimt recognized a truly remarkable property of black holes,objects from which nothing was supposed to be able to escape.By taking into account quantum mechanics, he was able to show that black holes Can radiate energy as particles are created in their vicinity. Even of those who haven't been lucky enough to see one   in person, many believe others' stories.    A: If they have seen a UFO, do they believe it was an alien spacecraft? A third of those    people are convinced that they're "alien spacecraft from other worlds."    A: It is said the poll reports that most Americans are convinced that the government is    hiding information about UFOs. Is that true?    B: Yes. As it turns out, fully a third of Americans think the feds have strong evidence    or solid proof that alien beings have visited Earth. Most Americans,    73 percent,    think the govermnent is covering up important information about UFOs.  About 33  percent believe the information hidden by the government is strong evidence or  solid proof that aliens have visited the Earth.    A: Does that mean people don't trust the government? Or are they just confused?    B: Hard to say, really.    A: Do our people think intelligent life exists in outer space?    B: Regardless of what they think about little green men coming to the Earth, 69 percent believe that some form of intelligent life exists,in outer space.
