　　20世纪90年代，英国埃斯顿大学语言与社会研究所组织过几次关于翻译研究的专题论坛，《翻译与规范》就是其中一次专题讨论的成果，其主要论题围绕图里(Gideon Tou ry)和赫曼斯(Theo Hermans)关于“翻译规范”的概念展开，所涉及的问题远远超出了论题规定的范围。与会者阐述了各自对“翻译标准”、“规范”、“对等”和“位移”等诸多概念的认识，虽然《翻译与规范》最后并未形成一个统一的结论，但与会者的分歧与争辩却能加深广大翻译研究者对翻译研究中的重要概念的理解。
