  Padelford also mentions parallels between the specific Calvinistconcepts of trinity, angels, and the depravity of man. He claims that the Calvinist principlesin Spensers Books I and II of The Faerie Queene are "easy, all tooeasy, perhaps, to discern."3 To Boulger, it exemplifies the way inwhich doctrinal influence of Calvinism secures the poet a place in thegeneral Calvinist tradition or temper of English poetry.
