　　The gunman agreed.After she was safely out of the car，Mr Brown started the engine and drove down the street.He was driving slowly but his mind was racing. Unarmed and 8 1 years old，he knew he could not fight the gunman.Suddenly Mr Brown realized how he could attract the attention of the police.He began driving like a mad man.He drove sixty miles an hour on side streets，ran red：lights，and drove the wrong wav on one-way streets. But not one police officer saw him.Suddenly he remembered that the Lilly police station was only a.few blocks away.“A11.right，”he thought.“If I can’t bring the police to my car，I’11 bring my car to the police.”　　He turned around the corner and saw the police station ahead.The two large doors were closed.He sped up the car straight for the doors.The car crashed through the doors and stopped in the cauntryside.Mr Brown cried，“Help[He is going to kill me.” It happened SO quickly that the gunman didn’t know what to do.Just then the officers from the police station had already come.They quickly caught the gunman.It was 6：30 P.m.——only 35 minutes after the Browns left their daughter’s home on a quiet street in Lilly.

•   此书印刷质量还不错，并且本书用章节的篇幅介绍了目前阅读理解题目的考查方式以及解题方法，以期通过系统全面的讲解和指导，并配以与中考题型相同的阅读练习，来提高学生的阅读理解能力。作为中考前的英语阅读辅导教材必不可少，但是书中讲的怎样提高英语阅读的方法说的就不太详细，我觉得提高英语阅读水平，首先，起始阶段的阅读主要以对话形式出现，目的是鼓励学生踊跃参加教学活动，比较自然地使用语言，因此应主要采用对话的教学方法。其次，注重提高阅读的速度，中考英语阅读理解共由4篇文章组成，从某种程度上说，阅读理解考的也是阅读速度，要学会快速浏览，能快速找出文章的关键词句和主旨。在这方面我还是推荐大家到李晓鹏的新浪博客中学习一下，博主曾是中考状元，他讲的英语阅读学习方法和解题技巧方法都很实用，我在上初中的时候英语阅读就总是给我总体成绩拉分，后来我们英语老师告诉了我这个学习博客，我利用课余时间学习里面的英语阅读方法加上这本书两者结合一起学，中考的时候我的英语取得了好成绩，大家都可以学习一下，希望英语阅读都能有所提高，加油吧！
