The effects of Deng Xiaoping's 'Four Modernisations' campaign are still being felt in China today - in its built environment, in society, and in spaces where the two overlap. In Themeless Parks, photographer Dustin Shum turns his attention to the lattermost facet of contemporary Chinese urban life: the countless city parks created as part of the 'City Beautiful' movement. Viewed through a filter of personal interpretation, each image strikes the viewer as absorbingly odd or even oddly beautiful, with each contributing a fragment to a larger narrative of a nation in the throes of change.

岑氏 1994年獲香港理工大學攝影設計(榮譽)學士，曾任攝影記者超過十年，現為自由攝影師。作品圍繞人文關懷和香港回歸前後的身份問題。曾獲多項紀實攝影獎，包括由香港報業公會(2003、2005、2007)、香港攝影記者協會(2003、2007)及國際特赦組織(1996、2001、2003)等機構舉辦的新聞業界獎項，2008年獲亞洲傳媒大獎之最佳新聞攝影(體育)銅獎。個人展覽包括「別名：Xianggang」(2003) 及「奧運健兒寫真」(2009)，曾出版攝影集包括《一人生活》(2007)、《活在西九》(2007)及《係‧唔係樂園：岑允逸攝影作品》(2008)。作品為三藩市現代美術館、香港文化博物館及私人收藏。
