　　老太太与医生　　有位老太太双目失明了。她请来一位医生给自己治病，并当着证人的面　　谈定了治疗费：如果他治好了自己的眼病，他将得到一笔报酬。但如果病情　　一如既往，她一分钱也不会给他。　　签好协议后，医生一次次地给她的眼上药，但每次他都带走老太太一些　　东西，一点一点将她的财物全部偷走。当他将她所有的东西都偷走后，他也　　治愈了老太太的眼病，并向她索要所承诺的报酬。　　老太太恢复了视力，看见屋里所有的财物一个不剩，不愿给医生任何报　　酬。　　医生索要定好的治疗费，但由于老太太仍然拒绝付款，便被医生带到法　　官面前。法庭上，老太太争辩道：“这个人所说的都是事实，我确实说过如　　果我能恢复光明，将付他一笔报酬。但如果我继续看不见东西，我一分钱也　　不会给他。现在他说我病已痊愈，而我却认为我仍然什么也看不见，因为当　　我双目失明时，我能看见屋里各种各样的财物及贵重的东西，而现在尽管他　　说治愈了我的眼病，而我却看不见屋里一件东西。”　　赫耳墨斯与樵夫　　有个樵夫在河边砍柴，一不小心将斧头掉进了深潭。因为失去了谋生的　　手段，樵夫便坐在河岸上为自己的悲惨命运而痛哭。　　赫耳墨斯出现了，问他为何哭泣。得知他的不幸后，赫耳墨斯便一头扎　　进水里，捞起一把金斧头，问他是否是他丢失的那一把。　　得知不是他的斧头，赫耳墨斯第二次消失在水下，捞起一把银斧头来，　　又问是不是他的斧头。　　樵夫仍说不是后，赫耳墨斯第三次潜下水去，捞起了樵夫丢掉的那把斧　　头。　　樵夫说这才是自己的斧头，并对找到它感到非常高兴。赫耳墨斯为樵夫　　的诚实而高兴，并把金斧头和银斧头都给了他。　　樵夫回到家里，将所发生的一切都告诉了自己的朋友们。其中有一个人　　当即决定也去试一试，以得到同样的好运气。　　他跑到河边，故意在同一地方将自己的斧头扔进潭中，然后坐在那儿痛　　哭起来。　　赫耳墨斯如他所愿来到他面前，问明了他痛苦的原因后，便一头扎入水　　中，捞起一把金斧头来，问是不是他所丢失的那一把。　　樵夫贪婪地抓住它说正是自己所丢失的那一把。赫耳墨斯对他那不诚实　　的行为感到非常痛恨，不但拿走了金斧头，而且拒绝找回他丢进水潭中的那　　把斧头。
