　　A　　Now... over here we have cement mortar which is mixed in the ratio of one part cementand four parts sand. It is an extremely firm and strong mortar. ]he problem is thatcement mortar shrinks a lot once it has dried.　　B　　So， lets look at gauged mortar now. This can be mixed in different ways. One typicalmixture is one part cement， eight parts sand and two parts lime. This type of mortar iseasy to work with and has a short drying time. It is a firm and strong mortar.　　C　　Over here we have lime mortar. This is mixed one part lime to three parts sand. It iseasy to work with —— thats because of the lime content. However —— and heres the dis-advantage —— it has a long drying time and is less firm than other types of mortar.　　D　　And so， this one here is another gauged mortar mix. It is made of one part cement， sixparts sand and one part lime. Like other gauged mortar mixes it dries quickly and isreally strong.　　A cement mortar： cement I part， sand 4 parts.　　B gauged mortar （1）;cement i part，sand 8 parts，lime 2 parts.　　C lime mortar; lime I part， sand 3 parts.　　D gauged mortar （2）;cement I part，sand 6 parts，lime 1 part.
