I. Firmly and unshakably develop the undertaking of the traditional Chinesehealth science and medicinesIn recent years, the undertaking of traditional Chinese health science andmedicines has developed tremendously but, at the same time, also encountered severaldifficulties and problems. Different views exist in both the interior of the trade andthe society. To sum up, they are the problems about how to regard the undertaking ofit and how to work for it. I think we should look upon the development of traditionalChinese health science and medicines with a much wider field of vision and at a muchdeeper hierarchy.Firstly, the position and function of it as well as its scientific nature cannotbe tolerated to raise any query. The health science created by it for the Chinesenationalities is the treasure in the excellent national culture. For thousands ofyears, it lives and breeds in an endless succession and extends continuously anduninterruptedly, revealing itself a powerful vitality. Till now, it still brings its role intofull play in the respect of safeguarding the health of the masses of the people so thatit is an indispensable important component part in the health service system of ourcountry. The historical position, actual role and scientific value of it exist objectivel~which has been tested in practice for a long period of time and has a wide and solidfoundation in masses and society. Therefore, it must be developed energetically,viewing from either the health angle or the cultural angle.Secondly, the traditional Chinese health science and medicines has a tremendousmarket demand. Ours is a country in development and a poor country that runs a bighealth service. We must build up basic hygienic protection health system step by step.In order to solve the problem of "difficult in accessibility and costly in affordabilityfor seeking health service, we must fully develop and utilize the resources oftraditional Chinese health science and medicines and give full play to the role ofit. With the elevation of the living level of masses of the people, the enlargementof the aged human group and the change in the idea of health, people again havea new understanding of the Chinese traditional health science and medicines.Thus, multilevel and multiform demand for traditional Chinese health science andmedicines tends to be increased. As a result, traditional Chinese health science andmedicines can then have obtained a much broader space for development.Thirdly, the traditional Chinese health science and medicines is the most tohave the original potential for innovation. The overwhelming majority of theories,technique and recipes of it are the original creations of our country and the importantresources of the innovation of our own.
